Financial Inclusion Stakeholder Workshop (May 4th, 2023)

TAFINA was represented by the Chairperson, Ms. Cynthia Ponera at the National Council for Financial Inclusion where she became temporary Secretary for the Financial Service Providers (FSPs) and did a recap and summary draft of the FSPs feedback towards the gaps on the 3 pillars of NFIF2, that is, Access, Affordability and Quality of Service.

Inclusive Fintech Forum (IFF), Kigali – Rwanda (June 20th – 22nd, 2023)

TAFINA negotiated for free passes and elevator speech for its Fintech members. Dawa Mkononi, EvMak, Azampay, Afya Lead and Laina Finance are the Fintechs that attended and Warioba Ventures as the VC that was part of the event. We had the pleasure of hosting the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Tanzania (Ms. Sauda Msemo) and the Director of Financial Deepening & Inclusion (Mr. Kennedy Komba) as they visited the TAFINA booth.

Finscope Survey 2023 Report Launch,
Dar es Salaam – Tanzania (July 10th, 2023)

Our Chairperson, Ms. Cynthia Ponera represented the Fintechs by being a panel member to discuss what the improvement on Mobile Phone ownership mean to the Fintech community, and how creating synergies with other FSPs could help drive usage of financial services.

National Financial Inclusion Framework 2023 – 2028 Launch, Dar es Salaam – Tanzania (August 3rd, 2023)

TAFINA, represented by the EXCO members participated in the launch of the NFIF 2023 – 2028 Framework. Important to note that TAFINA is in the National Technical Council for the NFIF3 and has deliverables in driving Financial Inclusion.

Finscope 2023 Survey Fintech Industry Deep Dive Session (September 8th, 2023)

This was a separate session for the Fintech members to further understand the Fintech industry deep dive in order to make more informed decisions when crafting solutions for the community in efforts to drive financial inclusion.

Fintech Strategy 2024 – 2028, Dar es Salaam – Tanzania (November 22nd – 24th, 2023)

TAFINA members met for a 3-day workshop to discuss the challenges and opportunities for the Tanzania Fintech industry in the process of formulating a fintech-led strategy. This event was sponsored by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. It was very insightful to see common issues being raised including policies, knowledge-gaps as well as recognising opportunities such as partnerships with other FSPs to increase value chain for the consumers and community at large.

Tanzania Fintech Association (TAFINA) Official Launch (March 1st, 2024)

TAFINA was officially launch on March 1st, 2024 at Serena Hotel in Dar es Salaam. Mr. Kennedy Komba of Bank of Tanzania (BoT) was the Guest of Honor whereby he officiated the launch of TAFINA together with our esteemed members and supporting partners.
